Starting synchro

Q: What's the perfect age to start synchro?
A: Age 7, give or take a year.
Start with  FUNdamentals.
For younger swimmers we have  AquaSquirts.

Q: What's the perfect age to try competitive synchro?
A: Age 8 or 9
At that age the child can participate on a  Wildrose 10 & under team
with minimal commitment and  travel.

Of course, there are always exceptions:
children who are strong swimmers, children with a passion for synchro, and others.
Synchronized swimming is a highly technical sport that takes years to master,
so there's lots of time for older children to catch up to teammates who started earlier.
Some Olympic athletes (with strong backgrounds in swimming or gymnastics) started synchro at age 12.

Q: Do you have other questions?
A: Contact Janet, president@aurorasynchro.org
