FUNdamentals

The Aurora’s FUNdamentals program develops basic water skills, awareness, and comfort in the water. There are no competitions, but FUNdamentals swimmers participate in club water shows and big sister events with older swimmers in the club. You will be provided with a report card that has a progress chart of your child’s skills.

Participants are typically 6 to 10 years old. They should be comfortable in deep water, be able to float, and be able (or almost able) to swim 25 metres. The first lesson will be used to determine if FUNdamentals is the right program for your child.

You can participate in the FUNdamentals program once or twice a week, your choice, on Wednesdays and/or Saturdays at Kinsmen Sports Centre in Edmonton or at the Fountain Park Pool in St. Albert.

As an introduction to synchro, the Auroras’ FUNdamentals program covers general skills, water skills, and synchro skills.

Fall 2010
• Wednesdays: October 6 to December 8 plus water show Sunday, December 12

Winter 2011

• Saturdays: January 8 to March 19 (no class February 19)

Spring 2011
• Wednesdays: April 6 to June 8 plus water show Sunday, June 12
• Saturdays: April 2 to June 11 (no class May 21) plus water show Sunday, June 12

St. Albert Fountain Park Pool

Fall 2010
• Wednesdays: October 6 to December 8 plus water show Sunday, December 12 -- Note: Due to a maintenance shut-down at Fountain Park Pool from December 1 to February 1, the last two classes in this program, on December 1 and December 8, will be held at the Kinsmen Sports Centre in Edmonton.
• Saturdays: October 2 to December 11 (no class October 9) plus water show Sunday, December 12 (The maintenance shut-down does not affect the Saturday FUNdamentals program.)

Winter 2011
• Wednesdays: due to a maintenance shut-down of Fountain Park pool, we will not have a Wednesday FUNdamentals program in St. Albert at this time
• Saturdays: January 8 to March 19 (no class February 19) (The maintenance shut-down does not affect the Saturday FUNdamentals program.)

Spring 2011
• Wednesdays: April 6 to June 8

Fees:
Once a week: $120 for 10 classes per session plus annual registration fee of $90*
Twice a week: $240 for 20 classes per session plus annual registration fee of $90*

All program schedule and fees are subject to change.
*The annual registration fee is nonrefundable and includes Synchro Alberta association fees, a club training swimsuit, a noseclip, and swim cap for training.
