 Aurora Synchro Wildrose 2015-2016

The Wildrose Program includes Pre-Competitive (WRFun) and competitive programs (Wildrose) at the provincial level, where swimmers participate in meets within the province. Aurora Wildrose swimmers, typically 7 to 15 years old, participate fully in the sport, including presenting a team routine and figures at meets.

Aurora Wildrose teams are organized by skill level, age, and commitment. Depending on registration, Aurora Synchro offers the choice of training one, two, three, or four times per week. Because of the technical skills they learn, participants who are 11 years or older must commit to a minimum of three times per week (unless they are participating in our WRFun program)

Advantages of Aurora Synchro's Wildrose Stream

Aurora Synchro

  • is Edmonton's premier synchro club, in existence since 1981
  • is the only club in northern Alberta with both Wildrose (Provincial Level) and National level Teams.
  • is recognized by Synchro Canada's Club Excellence program as a silver level club
  • has placed swimmers on national and Olympic teams
  • coaches have high levels of certification
  • trains primarily at the premier sports facility in Edmonton, one with world-class amenities and that meets international FINA guidelines for synchronized swimming performances
  • hosts at least two interclub events each year
  • offers camps for our members
  • has a powerful website where members can track upcoming events, their commitments, and their account balances
  • offers multiple ways to reduce program dues, including eligibility for Kidsport
  • other than the registration fee, no payments are due until at least October 1

In addition to learning synchronized swimming skills, Aurora Synchro swimmers learn:

  • swimming skills
  • diving skills
  • flexibility and stretching
  • teamwork
  • time management
  • presentation skills
  • rhythm
  • other life skills, such as time management

Wildrose synchro teams may be of mixed ages. At a meet, the event the team enters is based on the average age of the members of the team. However, swimmers perform figures in their individual age category. Wildrose age groups for events are 10U, 11-12, 13-15, and 16-18.

For example, if a team is made up of children ages 11, 11, 11, 12, 12, 13, 13,* the average age of the team is 12, so the team would perform in the 11-12 team event. The swimmers ages 11 and 12 would perform 11-12 figures, and the swimmers age 13 would perform 13-15 figures.

Synchro age is calculated as at the end of the year when the competitions are held. For 2015-2016 the competitions occur in 2016, so age is calculated as at December 31, 2016.
