Aurora Synchro programs
See the bottom of this page for links to more information.

Aurora Synchro offers week-long half-day and full-day summer camps for beginner to advanced swimmers during July and August. Most camps are held at Kinsmen Sports Centre, some at Fountain Park Pool in St. Albert. For more information on summer camps, select a camp under the Events tab.

~ Recreational synchro
Aurora Synchro offers both recreational and competitive programs. Swimmers in recreational programs do not compete. Because part of the fun of synchronized swimming is competition, our recreational programs prepare swimmers to participate in our competitive programs. The Aurora Synchro recreational programs include AquaSquirts and FUNdamentals.
For more information, select a program under the Programs tab.

~ Competitive synchro
Starting in the fall of 2010, Synchro Canada, Synchro Alberta, and Aurora Synchro are switching from a tier (skill) structure to an age-group structure in competitive synchronized swimming. You can read more under the News tab.
As outlined by Synchro Canada, competitive synchronized swimming has two streams: provincial (Wildrose) and national.
Below is a list of the new age-group categories in the Wildrose and national streams. Aurora Synchro will offer programs in as many of these categories as demand warrants and availability of coaches allows.
To start organizing swimmers for the fall, we're having a 10&U camp the week of June 14 and a 12&U camp the week of June 21.
If you're unsure where a swimmer would fit in with Aurora Synchro, please contact the head coach.
Wildrose (provincial) stream
The provincial stream, called the Wildrose stream in Alberta, is focused on achieving personal bests, and these athletes stay within the provincial competition structure, although they may compete in regional invitational meets such as MASY (Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Yukon, and B.C.).
As of September 2010 the Wildrose (provincial) stream comprises the following age groups:
-

-
the MASY Challenge (Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Yukon, and B.C.), typically in late May
National stream
The national stream is focused on the pursuit of excellence, and athletes within this stream have the opportunity to compete at a national championship.
As of September 2010 the national stream comprises the following age groups:
-
13 to 15
-
junior (15 to 18)
-
16 to 18 (Note: over the next couple of years, athletes in this age group may be integrated into the junior and senior categories.)
-
senior (18 plus)
National swimmers compete in:
-
Provincials Qualifier, typically the last weekend in January
-
Provincials, typically the third of fourth weekend in February, for the top 24 solos, duets, and teams from the Provincial Qualifier
-
Western divisional championships, organized by Synchro Canada, typically in late March
-
COSSC (Canadian Open Synchronized Swimming Championships), organized by Synchro Canada for national stream junior, 16 to 18, and senior swimmers, typically in late April/early May
-
Espoir national championships, organized by Synchro Canada for national stream 13 to 15 year old swimmers, typically in early June
Note: According to Synchro Alberta rules, athletes may swim up one age group but will be required to swim both sets of figures if they also swim in events in their own age group.
